Who We Are
Angel Food Bakery & Donut Bar is opening a brand new, sparkling gem of a location in the beautifully renovated Texa Tonka shopping center in Saint Louis Park! Featuring a full kick-ass coffee bar and of course fabulous cakes, pastries, donuts, cookies, cupcakes and other treats. Our growth has been amazing, so we're on the lookout for someone wonderful who wants to be a part of a business that even the Food Network and Martha Stewart Living have noticed. (Yup, we're the ones who took the top $10,000 prizes on Chopped Sweets and Cooking Channel's Donut Showdown competition!)
Who We need
Our ideal match would be someone that is stoked on customer service, obsessed with coffee and would love working in a lively "open kitchen" environment with awesome bakers, fantastic customers and happy, drama-free colleagues. Folks constantly pop their heads in to say "LOVE your music; great vibe!"
PRODUCT KNOWLEDGE: You gotta have it. You gotta want more of it. Our customer base trusts us to be experts and put p-e-r-f-e-c-t-l-y baked goodies & amazing espresso in their paws.
ATTENTION TO DETAIL: Every detail matters. From putting the right flavor labels out to keeping the beverage cooler stocked to making sure the coffee is hot & fresh. We love our sparkly, pretty bakery. We hope you do too.
THE ABILITY TO WORK IN A FAST-PACED ENVIRONMENT SELF-SUFFICIENTLY: We all need to take on many tasks from start to finish. Seeing a to-do list through and knowing when to ask for help are very important attributes in our ideal hire.
INTEGRITY AND MATURITY: We need you here on time, every time. It sucks to have eager customers lining up and to not know when your fellow employee will come through the door.
CUSTOMER SERVICE: We've put in years of work to create these bakeries, but YOU are ultimately the face & voice that our customers interact with, so experience in customer service would be a definite plus. Experience in having fun & starting dance parties is also encouraged.
PROFESSIONALISM: Leave the drama at home; we're professionals who bake. And laugh. And sometimes do crazy things like somersaults in the hallway (though that isn't a job requirement). We also have thick skin, because for all of us, there are days we ef up a recipe and have to do it again. Each bakery & coffee shop in the world has its own way of doing things, so we need you to accept professional criticism without taking it personally.
PITCHING IN: We bake. We clean up after ourselves. We help customers. We help each other. We sweep and mop and do dishes to keep our kitchen shiny and clean because we love our gorgeous light-filled bakery. As they say #teamworkmakesthedreamwork
NO EXPERIENCE? No worries...we'll teach you everything...a typical day for an "opener" would include getting your cash register til ready, starting the coffee, stocking the display counter with freshly-made donuts, scones, cookies, cupcakes and other pastries, and opening the doors to VERY appreciative customers. Rather than experience, we're REALLY looking for folks with integrity, maturity, and good work ethic (for example, we need you here on time, every time). We're hoping to find folks who thrive working in a fast-paced environment (especially when there's a line out the door). We dream about people who can work self-sufficiently without having to be "bossed around." We all take on many tasks such as restocking supplies, keeping things tidy, glancing at the To Do list when there's a break in the action...INTEGRITY, WORK ETHIC, and a true sense of CUSTOMER SERVICE are the attributes we'd love to discover in our ideal hire.

SCHEDULE: Full time or part time. Schedule & availability can be flexible per employee.
WAGE/BENEFITS: More-than-livable wage position with earned vacation and other benefits. Hourly rates starting at $16+ depending on experience.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to work on your feet for a minimum of 8 hours (sometimes even longer... we're looking at you National Donut Day). Must be able to handle being busy & managing stressful times. Must be able to enjoy fun music and laugh at cheesy jokes.
RESPONSIBILITIES: You must be prepared to take on a variety of tasks including but not limited to: time management, quality control, gossiping about guilty pleasure reality TV, washing dishes, working the espresso bar, putting up with narcissism & egos, having a good time, drinking coffee, eating donuts, working hard, helping customers, meeting cool people, watching kids eyes bug out and more. Extra credit bonus if you love talking about your pets.
