Bakey Bakey

Our airport location is looking for people that love sugar, flour, butter, eggs and creating magic with a hot oven or fryer. Sounds like you? Then keep reading below...

Who We Are

Angel Food Bakery & Donut Bar @ MSP International Airport is a sparkling gem with fabulous donuts, pretzels, cookies, cupcakes and other treats. Our growth has been amazing, so we're on the lookout for someone wonderful who wants to be a part of a business that even the Food Network and Martha Stewart Living have noticed. (Betcha didn't know that we took home the prize of "Best New Quick Service Food Concept" in all of North American airports!)

We are a small collective of passionate bakers with a penchant for perfection... and we're looking to add another baker to our hard-working but fun loving team. Our ideal match would be someone with commercial baking experience that is stoked on baking, but rather than being in a dingy back room hidden from the world, prefers to work in a lively "open kitchen" environment with awesome customers and happy, drama-free colleagues. [Folks constantly pop their heads in to say "LOVE your music; great vibe!"]

Who We need

PRODUCT KNOWLEDGE: You gotta have it. You gotta want more of it. Our customer base trusts us to be experts and put p-e-r-f-e-c-t-l-y baked goodies in their paws.

ATTENTION TO DETAIL: Everything matters. How a recipe is religiously followed Every. Single. Time...even though we know them by heart, we still follow our recipe book without fail. How a donut is quickly iced without looking sloppy. We like to make our goodies taste amazing. We like them to look pretty. We hope you do too.

THE ABILITY TO WORK IN A FAST-PACED ENVIRONMENT SELF-SUFFICIENTLY: We all need to take on many tasks from start to finish. Seeing a production list through and knowing when to ask for help are very important attributes in our ideal hire.

BASIC KNOWLEDGE OF BAKING: We can always learn more, but do you know how to operate a 60-qt mixer? Do you know why it's critical to weigh ingredients vs eyeballing it? Do you "get" rotating stock? But if you don't, are you a quick learner?

INTEGRITY AND MATURITY: We need you here on time, every time. It sucks to have a production list and not know when your fellow baker will come through the door.

CUSTOMER SERVICE: Yes, you DO get to interact with customers! Rather than "hiding in the back," all bakers rotate and help customers at the counter, so experience in customer service would be a definite plus.

PROFESSIONALISM: Leave the drama at home; we're professionals who bake. And laugh. And sometimes do crazy things like somersaults in the hallway (though that isn't a job requirement). We also have thick skin, because for all of us, there are days we ef up a recipe and have to do it again. Each bakery in the world has its own way of doing things, so we need you to accept professional criticism without taking it personally.
Us: "Hey, you left out the salt in this batch." You: "Argh! OK, got it!"
See? Simple stuff like that makes our work life easier.

PITCHING IN: We bake. We clean up after ourselves. We help customers. We help each other. We sweep and mop and do dishes to keep our kitchen shiny and clean because we love our gorgeous light-filled bakery. As they say #teamworkmakesthedreamwork

STILL READING? There’s one more important thing to point out: if you’re a job hopper, or if your life is still taking twists, turns, and a lot of “time off to travel or discover yourself,” please hold off applying until your life is in a place where you really want a good, steady job. Our very small business invests a LOT of time, resources, energy and money helping new employees integrate into our world of baking, and it’s crushing to have someone say they love working here, but need to skip onto the “next thing in life” after just 6-12 months. So please think carefully about your commitment to holding down a real job before sending in your application.
